Urban Practice Joins The Michaels Organization, Borough of Englewood Cliff Officials to Celebrate Grand Opening of The Cliffs on Hudson

New Community Offers Modern, Affordable Housing in Ideal Location Within Walking Distance to Employment, Shopping, Dining, and Entertainment Options

Englewood Cliffs, NJ – February 24, 2026 – Mayor Mark Park, joined by other officials from the Borough of Englewood Cliffs, gathered today with residents to celebrate the grand opening of The Cliffs on Hudson, a new housing community offering affordable living to families with low and moderate incomes.

The community, located in a prime location near transit and other amenities, including medical and entertainment facilities, attracted overwhelming interest in the neighborhood and is already at full occupancy with a waiting list.

Designed by Urban Practice, a leading architecture and design firm based in Camden, NJ, the community has been applauded for fitting seamlessly into the neighborhood. The borough lies just outside of New York City and has been in critical need of high-quality affordable housing for many years.

Cliffs on Hudson was developed by The Michaels Organization, which served as the private-sector partner to the Borough. Michaels asked Urban Practice, a frequent strategic partner, to join the development team as the lead architect.

“This is a wonderful community, designed to offer comfortable spaces for families, with generous floor plans, available in one- to three-bedroom layouts. Each apartment offers modern features, including sustainable flooring and energy-star appliances,” said Jonathan Lubonski, Executive Vice President of Development at Michaels.

As this is the first purpose-built affordable housing community in this neighborhood, it was especially important that this be a beautifully designed, attractive place to call home that will be considered an asset to this community, Lubonski said. “The Cliffs on Hudson fits perfectly into the community–financially, physically, and architecturally. We can always trust Urban Practice to be collaborative and to deliver excellence, and that makes our job as developers that much easier,” he said.

Urban Practice also served as the lead architect for Michaels’ Residences at Choctaw development in the Borough of Saddle River, which celebrated its grand opening in October of last year.

At Cliffs on Hudson, residents enjoy access to the community’s desirable amenities, which include a fitness room, laundry facilities, bike storage, a tot lot, and a multipurpose community room.

From an interior design perspective, the Urban Practice team pulled inspiration from the vibrancy of the city in the color palette, using bright and energetic pops of color inspired by the city lights, on a neutral palette that is inspired by the nature that surrounds Englewood Cliffs.

“We also pulled inspiration from the area in bringing in landmarks through artwork to give the residents a sense of connection to the spaces,” explained Melissa Mayer-Benedetti, Urban Practice’s Director of Interior Design.

Residents of the community spoke at the grand opening, as did Mayor Park and Terry Tucker, Chief of Staff at the New Jersey Housing Mortgage Finance Agency, which allocated federal low-income housing tax credits to the $25 million development.
