Collaboration. Support. Honesty. Excellence.
First and foremost, we are a team. We collaborate and support each other through open and honest communication. There are no egos here. No question is stupid, we have each other’s backs, and we continually improve.
We are a young firm with a depth of experience. This has made us adaptable and able to grow and thrive through and after the pandemic. Our team works closely with developers, construction teams, and consultants which offers unparalleled growth and learning opportunities. Our team was built by innovators who brought their ideas into fruition. That spirit is celebrated at Urban Practice.
We are committed to preserving the planet and its inhabitants for generations to come. We are stewards of our environment and resources, and are acutely aware of the impacts of the built environment. Our work demonstrates our commitment to that. We seek to design spaces that promote resilience, equity, health, and reduced carbon emissions. As further evidence of this commitment, we have signed and support the 2030 challenge.
Innovation drives our creativity, our commitment to the environment, our commitment to the practice of architecture, and our ability to adapt in an ever-changing world. We recognize the value of innovation and allocate time and resources into research and development to make cutting edge innovations in the field viable for all.
We are always looking towards the future, and that future is bright. Building up future designers and managers is a priority for Urban Practice. We are a team of experts and our expertise spans years and subject matter. We work to share this knowledge across our team and the discipline to uplift everyone. We believe in developing well-rounded architects, but also in celebrating what makes each person on our team invaluable. Our team members have diverse skills and backgrounds, and we work to identify their strengths in order to amplify their growth.
We are a company of people designing for people. None of us are a monolith, so the best ideas and collaboration occur when there are representatives from all walks of life. We strive to foster a workplace that thrives on diverse thoughts and experiences and that encourages our team to take ownership of their work and their space. It is the best way to design for our diverse communities, and it is the best environment for our team to grow in.
Our primary directive is to design great spaces that enrich the lives of the communities we serve. We do not design in a bubble. We do our due diligence when learning about the communities we work in and combine our expertise in design and construction with the needs of the residents. We meet people where they are and work to enhance that, not change it. We regularly provide volunteering, pro-bono, and low-bono services that help the communities we serve.
Made in 2019. Made for Tomorrow.
Founded in 2019, James Haley, Christina Davis, and Bryon Yoder envisioned Urban Practice as a firm to lift lives and drive resiliency in residential architecture. Urban Practice joined the 2030 challenge and is dedicated to sustainability in the sector through integrating new technologies and best practices. Our services include Architecture, Site Planning, Construction Project Management, Engineering coordination, Specifications, Passive House and other sustainable coordination. We are proud to be a team with diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and expertise, as it is the best way to design for communities with diverse character.
